Western Colorado University
July 12-16, 2020
From the L.E.E.P.A.A.C. Board we wish we had a better message to post in light of everything we have all been dealing with in regards to COVID-19. After conversations with Western Colorado University, the decision has been made to cancel the 2020 LEEPAAC Explorer Conference. The advisors will be having a meeting next Wednesday (May 6th) and the topic of the conversation will be coming up with an alternate event for Explorers to compete later in the summer or fall. Again from the Board, we are truly sorry and we will work to make sure this summer still has some sort of activity for you.
L.E.E.P.A.A.C. is closely monitoring the news about the novel Coronavirus, COVID-19. Our primary concern is to ensure the health and safety of our Explorers, families, and Advisors. After consultation with Western University the 2020 Explorer Conference is continuing as planned. Should recommendations from local health departments change, we will review those recommendations and inform you of any changes.
We encourage you to take standard precautions outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, including hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying home if you are ill.
We encourage posts to be proactive while planning exploring activities. Some important precautions to remember:
· Explorers or adults that have a fever of 100.4 or greater, vomiting, or diarrhea should stay home from any and all activities.
· Have any Explorers or adults had any of the following symptoms in the last 24 hours?
· Unexplained extreme fatigue or muscle aches
· Sore throat
· Open sore
If the participant has any two (or more) of these symptoms—he or she should stay home.
If the participant has one of these symptoms, discuss any limitations and restrictions and consider having him or her stay home.
Remind Explorers to wash their hands every time they use the bathroom and before all meals.
Please visit this page for additional information from the CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/
As always, the health and safety or Explorers, families and Advisors is our top priority. Please do not hesitate to contact L.E.E.P.A.A.C. with any questions or concerns.
A MESSAGE FROM LEEPAAC'S CHAIR
Welcome to LEEPAAC, we are an organization that got its calling thirty-five years ago. Our goal is to be a resource for agencies, and adult leaders that are overseeing law enforcement programs for youths interested in the career of law enforcement. Our group is a recognized 501(c)(3), that has elected officers, and established bylaws. We are all inclusive, and membership is open to anyone without discrimination based on race, sex, creed, color, sexual orientation, gender variance and handicap. Know that if your agency is interested in starting, or maintaining a program for youth, we can and will be a great resource for you and your department through vast network of adult leaders that have many years of experience doing exactly what you re trying to achieve. We hope you take advantage of the opportunities that we present throughout the year! Make a part of your future with our history!
