LEEPAAC is in the process of developing an annual Basic Explorer Academy. This Academy will be provided as a cooperative effort of LEEPAAC member agencies and will be open to explorers from any LEEPAAC member agency. Participating agencies will be expected to provide an instructor for some (but not all) days of training.
The Basic Explorer Academy will provide new explorers with an introduction to law enforcement, establish fundamental skills, knowledge and attitudes.
Currently, each agency is responsible for introductory training of new members. LEEPAAC hopes that offering a multi-agency academy through the sharing of resources will ensure quality training for all explorers, promote inter-agency cooperation and reduce the demand upon the resources of each member agency.
LEEPAAC hopes to begin providing the Basic Explorer Academy in the spring or summer of 2012.
